Only one out of every 100 elm trees has the unique briarwood knots, burls, and color variations suitable for use in these handcrafted jewelry boxes from Italy. The wood is indigenous to Florence, where a family-run company has been making the highest quality furniture for half a century using time-honored Italian craftsmanship. Selected wood is cut in such a way that the briarwood veneers are rich in tonality and completely one-of-a kind; the veneers are then glued to twelve layer poplar panels laminated in opposite directions to prevent warping which takes over a month to create. Interior compartments are lined with ultra-suede to prevent jewelry from tarnishing. All drawer pulls, locks, necklace bars and hinges are made from solid brass and gold plated with 24 karat gold.
